Spring melting
Hello friends, Matt here. I’m just now figuring out a much easier way of updating the website so now there won’t be these glaring gaps without an update. Right on to it:
We are home safe and sound from our cross Canada tour for Peacemaker which was a blast. Usual chaos/madness ensued as we navigated our way across this great land that once belonged to someone else and is now something strange but beautiful as well. The days in USA/Canada consist of this general routine:
Wake up, find out what city you are in, find out where you are currently located (sometimes the van), thank your gracious hosts/apologize for the noise, find your friends, brush your teeth/share deodorant/medication to bring you back to your usual stallion-like self, find the nearest taco bell (only in USA, $0.99 fresco bean burritos grilled), Mark does the first shift depending on what entailed the night previous, buy 4L water/spitz/cigarettes/coffee/ginger ale/chips, drive _____km to next show, laugh about nearly everything, recoil in disgust/horror about other topics, arrive in _____ city, find the nearest grocery store to invest in 2 X 5L boxes of Franzia Chillable red (only in USA, $9.97!), find venue/load in/soundcheck, go for a walk, talk to local folks/invite them to the show, plant seeds of a possible place to sleep, sit in the van pre-show for the 2nd most important part of the night:the pre-show warm up, someone takes control of the stereo -which can come under heavy fire if an err choice is made-, invite your new friends to the van to come join you and your partners in crime, replenish your body with excitement/wine, get “the shiver” (chill from head to bottom usually derived from excitement to be alive/a “good sip”), if little to no time is available Mark sets the alarm on his phone and we do a sip a minute, realize we’re on in 5 minutes, rush the stage, put all of the mediocrity of the day/joy of the strangeness of existing/lust for the night into 35-45 minutes of Concentrated Living, apply deoderant/change shirt, talk to friends we haven’t met yet, go with the proverbial “flow” and fly into the ether for another shot at glory. Repeat X amount of days.
We did two recording sessions on Daytrotter and WNUR 89.3fm while in the states which went great. The daytrotter session should be up on their site in the next couple months. Usual thank you’s would follow but there is too many people and I don’t want to risk forgetting anyone. You will know who you are if you feel as happy to know me as I do you.
We’re recording our next full length at this June at the legendary Hotel 2 Tango (Godspeed! You Black Emporer, Arcade Fire) with Mr Howard Billerman at the dials.
We’re going to be touring around the Maritimes/Ontario periodically in spring/summer, all dates in the usual place.
“Love you guys”- Swifty
